Lawrence County Solid Waste Management District

In response to the Coronavirus/COVID-19, the following protocols will be observed by the Lawrence County Solid Waste Management District to help mitigate the spread of coronavirus. This will be in place until Monday, April 20th at 11:59 p.m. Should the Indiana Governor’s “Stay-at-Home” Order be extended we will follow up with updated information. We anticipate this to be a temporary situation and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we work through these difficult times. Some facility operational hours or services may be modified, reduced or facilities may close periodically during this period to adjust to community demands and employee safety needs. Transfer Station/Compost Facility: Should you have any questions please call (812) 278-7439

  • Transfer Station/Compost Facility will be open.
  • Transfer Station Office and Scale House will be closed to the public.
  • Transfer Station restroom will be closed to the public.
  • Employees are practicing social distancing. This practice does not allow for an employee to assist with unloading vehicles. Customer loads must be managed by the driver and occupants of the vehicle.
  • Do not congregate in groups and maintain social distancing (minimum of 6 feet away from others) at all times.
  • Remain in your vehicle during transactions at the scale house window to ensure proper distancing can be maintained
  • Please do not socialize while at the facility. Make your trip as brief as possible to make room for other users coming behind you

Drive-Thru Recycling Center: Should you have any questions please call (812) 277-9190

  • Drive-Thru Recycling Center will be open
  • Recycling Center Attendant Shack will be closed to the public
  • Employees are practicing social distancing. This practice does not allow for an employee to assist with unloading vehicles. Customer loads must be managed by the driver and occupants of the vehicle.
  • Please do not socialize while at the facility. Make your trip as brief as possible to make room for other users coming behind you.

Collection Stations:

  • Collection Stations will be open.
  • Collection Station attendant shack will be closed to the public. Should you have any questions please call the respective Collection Station. If you don’t have a mobile phone or no mobile service the employee on duty can answer questions through the window.

Material Recovery Facility (MRF): Should you have any questions please call (812) 277-9190

  • Material Recovery Facility (including Office) are closed to the public. The exception is commercial/Business haulers will have access to the MRF drive-thru area to drop off cardboard.
